Bad case of Oak Gall on Quercus palustris 'round here...........and shouldn't we be getting our galls out for the girls?

 

Blimey O'Rielly Robbie, You got ya self some fine galling going on there old boy !

 

Wouldn't want to meet that swarm of wasps when they emerge :scared1:

Most, if not all of the Pin oaks 'round here have gall wasp damage to some degree or another. It's actually a trick question that alot of prospective employers ask up and coming arborists.....'What tree is that?' (as they point at a gall laden Pin oak). My answer was 'Dunno, do you have any Special Brew?' Only joshing, I actually answered correctly with 'It's a Pin oak aka Quercus palustris with a real bad case of gall'. Some trees have it so badly that from a distance it looks like some weird kind of fruit.
