Lodge pole pine

Anyone interested in Lodge Pole processor size 3mtr lengths but not sustainable forest so useless for RHI and Biomass power station sales. Timber near Bolton Lancs and will be in 3 mtr lengths roadside on good tarmac access road. Its all windblown so trying to work out whether it is economic to harvest. Initial quantity upto 200 tonnes.

by up here I presume you are north of Bolton - I can make lodgepole and sitka available if you have a market for it?

Why?, for what particular market.

Is it because it is Lodgepole Pine, or what?

Shitty, misshapen timber, and very prone to wind damage, i.e. tops snapping out.

In my direct ownership experience , of this past 20 years.

Why does anyone plant it, other than vigerous growth in rank moss.

I dont know about being worth a bomb but it is certainly a bomb site with probably 75% windblown. Just cannot see at the moment how it will be economic to harvest as I need to cover minimum £400 per day just to break even.

Except I am cutting my Lodgepole Pine for the "free" firewood, and it is my only exercise/hobby, being otherwise in a desk job.

Plus it allows native specis trees to get a foothold.

I would not reckon there to be any nett gain in "Harvesting" this rubbish.

75% of 200ton = 150t of windblown timber, good dry windblow will weigh about 20ton a load thats 7 1/2 artic loads , no seasoning for 12 month , hardly any bark to tidy up,

simply log it up and wait until end of feb and just see what people will pay for 'rubbish'
