"Woodworks, what was your finishing method?"

Pretty much as it says on the can but trying to get more oil absorbed in the first coat.

So first coat applied liberally and worked during drying keeping any thirsty spots replenished. I will do this for 10-15 mins until it just starts to thicken/dry. Wipe off any excess pronto.

Then subsequent coats are thinner but along the same principles as the first.

How many applications is down to how absorbent the wood is and how much gloss you want.

I have tried many finishes over the years including all the oils mentioned in this thread and can honestly say I think LFO is by far my favorite for the majority of work. Just beacause it is easy does not mean it is not good :laugh1:

The first review on here might work well but never tried it myself. Liberon Finishing Oil - Oil Finishes - Stains & Finishing - Fixing, Gluing & Finishing | Axminster.co.uk

Probably best to try on any spare samples you have as that walnut you have really stunning.

It would be interesting to hear how other members apply it as devon Twig and Stompy use it.

Big Beech are you going to be carving / shaping the wood yourself ?

dont trust myself with something that expensive. it will be cut on a duplicating machine, but i will need to inlet the action and sand and finish etc.
