We had this happen to us for quite a while, couldn't work out why and tried all sorts of different ideas, it wasn't until I mentioned it to my geeky son that he suggested it could be that someone else on my mail server could have been hacked which will blacklist every domain on the email server.

In desperation we moved web/email host to one of the very well known ones and have had no problems since.

I just don't like the thought of phoning them up!....almost feels like I'm hassling them, I know I wouldn't like it...I get really annoyed from all the cold calls I get.

The counterpoint to this is that you won't look very professional if you haven't supplied a quote that has been asked for - also if your quote isn't there when the decision is made, you lose out automatically. You shouldn't be afraid of contacting the customer when there is good reason to do so.

A brief, polite, call to check if a quote has been received is a positive thing to do - as long as you stick to only checking if the quote has turned up, of course. Its not a cold call, its a courtesy call to check if they have received something you promised to give them.

Most of my quotes are sent via email.

I have had a few problems recently in that they have been going directly to there spam!

I have only found this out by customers actually chasing me for the quotes....of which I have sent but they have not recieved (gone into spam)

What do you guys do about chasing up quotes...I don't want to be seen as pressing them!! But I obviously don't want to miss out on work.

Do you phone or post??

OMG...not my strong point at all but just a thought.

With a new/unknown customer, could you poss. send an email immediately before the one with the quote attached, asking them to add you to their SAFE SENDERS list and, thereafter, check their 'junk-mail' if the following email isn't received.

Good luck...and/or schedule in a date 3 days on to give them a courtesy call just checking they'd rec'd the quote and do they have any further queries?

Cheers..

Paul

Send a text the same time as the email, something like, "A quotation has been sent to your email inbox, please check the spam folder too! best regards, Scott Farmborough"

What happens if they don't have a mobile though??

If you have sent them a quote they must also be interested in you working for them. A phone call after you sent it is really necessary even if you do not get the job. People want to work with people they trust. If you're the one not chasing the quote, you miss out to the guy who has phoned and discussed his quote and any thing the client is not happy with or not sure about. He makes them happy and closes deal.

If you do lose out at least you'll know why ( more ammo for next time not to lose)
