How much? Who would you recommend to buy from? Local dealers are very expensive

I bought mine from greenstripe in market rasen. £540ish inc vat I think. I've not looked at the figures but it certainly feels lighter than my 346.

Any sign of a 550 being tuned in any way?

Yes stuff can be done ( my 560 is modded by petemate ) . The design of the transfers is different so I understand and less work can be done as they are pretty good strait out of the box . Muffler mods do give gains . If nothing else take the spark screen out ...

I had a modded 346 Xp, not as good as my 2014 550 though. I got my 550xpg for £500 plus vat off my local dealer who will look after it, also a 2 year warranty which is good. I won't buy saws online as prefer to give my local husky dealer the trade and in return it gets looked after.

Issues with my 2012 550

been back to dealer for 2 computer upgrades?

New chain brake lever (log hit it)

New air filter assembly

screw adjustment on air filter assembly. (choke lever kept dropping

with the slightest pull)

New engine (due to seizure, air leak in a pipe, probably caused when

they replaced air filter assembly?)

3 bars (popped sprockets) (being a stihl man i don't grease as often

as i should!)

1 snapped chain. (a week old)

Exhaust has now developed cracks all-round the spark arrester holding

in screw hole. (£60 plus vat for new exhaust!)

It has been in with the dealer more time than i have had it and used it. My dealer has been rubbish in my opinion, never apologised, never offered me a new saw, always acting like its my fault!

So no i wouldn't buy another one. I would like to try a 346. i have gone back to 6 yr old 240 which starts beautifully, ok not as quick cutting! but smooth.

Stihl 441 cm is just as bad. That has been back in with dealer now for 3/4 wks
