I like the Multicut LPX chains for cutting fresh fallen Beech and Oak. It's said, that because the Multicut has a thick chrome plating you can't sharpen it as well, but to be honest I can't tell the difference. I use the M75LPX on my 036 and the chain lasts well, longer than the std full chisel that's for sure.

I've just started milling and have reground a Multicut chain to 10 degrees, i've also bought some factory ground ripping chain and will keep my eye on the longevity/differences.

Stihl chains are harder because they have a higher chrome content and so 'can' last longer. The flip side is there a little tougher to sharpen . I can always get a better edge on the softer oregon chain and obviously sharpen them quicker (by hand).

Just depends on cutting conditions. Their both good chains.

I use both.

Oregon also make chains for Husqvarna and also own carlton.

As said stihl chain most seem happier with as keeps its edge longer etc and most favour them.

That said however the Oregon LPX is a chain that takes some beating in clean wood. Guess its the horses for courses - oregons a bit cheaper than stihl. I look to use stihl on the "better and clean" wood and long bars yet the shorter/smaller saws I tend to use Oregon lpx.

Yes I fully understand your point and I too use both, just wondered what people thought of them. Is the LPX the full chisel?
