How much discount on unseasoned wood sales?

I do 25% off for unseasoned split load, people go mad for it and it keeps the pile down in my yard. It also doesn't make me any less busy during the winter

I'd do the opposite, season it outside then move it into sheds when you have sold the stuff under cover. We season our logs outside in the open. 2 years or so outside then split and cover it. You only need a month or two in the shed to dry out seasoned logs IMO. Others obviously disagree, I'm not one for moisture meters and am sure those of you who keep them undercover for two years have a great product but personally think you are wasting a lot of resources.

 

Agree with you . Big difference between " seasoned " wood that is wet from rain and un " seasoned " green wood .

Real mix of opinions, I think I'll sell some out now at a cheaper rate just to cover the lad who helps, one a day will cover it and the stockpile the rest for a rainy day. My only concern is that Beech can sleep away if left too long?

Storage costs money, anyone who thinks it doesn't needs to go look at their costs, because there are will be lots of other costs your not considering.

Not sure if it's a point worth considering or not, but it's not been raised here is that guy who wanted a cheaper price to buy now will not buy later if you deal him.

 

My point here is, I'd think of selling green possibly to new customers if that was the only sale on the table. Otherwise, those regulars who've usually bought seasoned will continue to do so at a higher price.

 

As pointed out though, would depend on difference in price between them.

I just posted 25% discount for next week on fb, I need bags shifting to erect a polytunnel and I would rather sell them at a discount than waste diesel shifting them around the yard.
