heres a pic for you eddie, when you angle your foot away the rope runs through when you straighten it, the rope locks against itself and you just push up, works a treat with about 20feet or more rope below you:001_cool:

i always struggle with this and end up just clamping my other foot on top i think like you say having the weight of the rope helps so would probably get easier the higher you got.
