Cave drying

Hi all jst wanted some opinions we have a fair size cave in our garden which doesn't get wet.

 

Is it better to ring and split all my soft wood and stack in here for drying or should I leave it in the bigger garden as logs with a tarp over???

 

Does timber dry out better once split?

measure the air humidity is the best way to find out. if its high all the time then lots of wood could go mouldy but if its dry then why not. does it get much air flow?

i try to split all my wood asap and let it weather outside with the top covered with an air gap between the wood and the roof with some old roofing sheets n spars so the wood can air dry and season etc

It's always dry and seams to get a good air flow + the sun shines in mid afternoon so I'm guessing that would help!!

 

I might try both see what gives the best results!!
