Are all these problems with 90s?

My old 90 towed very poorly compared to my 110 now.

All 4x4`s will do this. You have to be mindful that without the center diff locked in if one axle loses traction and you start going backwards the action of the center diff doubles up the speed the prop spins on the loose axle. The same thing can happen under braking on the loose going down hill without the center diff engaged.

Did the same trip again today with a much smaller load. Had to stop again in the same spot:thumbdown: Brakes worked (just) but had trouble pulling away with plenty of wheel spin diffs on and low range. Think that bit of road is just blimming slippy has have had no problem anywhere else including a 1in5 just down the road.

Blimey, is that section of the road covered in slimed green leaf mould?

Best take an alternative route if you can. Could be worth alerting your council highways dept to inspect/ steam clean.

I tow 3500kg often but dont seem to get these problems. The brakes on my landcruiser and discoveries are disks all round so work the same in reverse unlike most double cabs. I dont like the idea of electric brakes unless they fail to safety. May be a system with electric and the over run system still in the back ground or an air system would be good especially if I can gain another 500kg on the LC .

It's not the brakes that are the problem it's the lack of traction between the tyres and the tarmac/slime :001_smile:

To be fair to the 90 it's brakes are just right for towing just overly sharp when not.
