Any one know where I can hire a Chain Saw with 5ft bar/chain on odd occasions, for dealing with over size Beech Tree Butts.

Would like to hear from any of you who have expereince of breaking down oversize massive trunks on odd occasions.

You'll be very lucky to find a hire shop will have anything that big!! Mendiplogs was offering his 880 for hire and reward but I think he'd want to be assured that you could handle it without chopping yourself in half!!

I think you're asking something impossible.

If you want to cut up sizable pieces like that it's either. Buy your own or hire someone with a saw and bar like you requested.

I would be very reluctant to give my stuff to be used by someone else knowing it's going to be returned as broken goods.

I have stopped lending out our big saws, they never come back as sharp as they went out and its a long way round that bar with a file.

For the amount of work we get in this country for big trees, an 880 or the husky equvelant would likely last you a life time if you looked after it....Next time you get a job that requires it, stick decent money on it, and make the investment :)
