Yes it can but you have to increase the strength/size of slings to match the weight of timber. For bigger stuff is sometimes easier to just tie a running bowline if you are not sure.

Thanks taffupatree and gand for advice. Will play around with a few and see which best suites me

Not a problem :thumbup1: For speed slings are quicker, but alot of the time I prefer knots

Think on that larksfooting a sling on to a branch reduces its strength significantly and that a knot in rope does the same.
