Stihl mini 7-spline setups are not compatible with any other saw brand, and not even with the replacement drums that Oregon sell.

As far as I know, picco rims are not made by Oregon for any other hub size (likely a Stihl imposed business agreement), but some "pin type" rims from "custom" makers have been occationally observed.

The above is my impression of the situation, I am not 100% sure of everything, and it may of course change.

That's my understanding - pretty annoying yet in the larger rims ie. standard size I'm pretty sure the stihl and oregon rims are interchangable.

So you can't put oregon rims on stihl rim and sprocket set ups when looking at the SM sizes....

True - and I actually believe the Stihl rims are made by Oregon, as the standard 7-spline ones looks exactly the same down to the grain of the metal, except for the text and numbers. :001_smile:

Is it only the 261 that takes the 3/8lp rim then? As I do have a stihl rim off a 260 and an Oregon off my 560 and they're the same size

They're the same size on the outside but I think will prob not have the same internal size... it's only a slight difference.

The stihl lo pro rim should go on all all the stihl saws that are sub 55cc (as a rule of thumb!)

Would have to get all the rims out to double check!

Afaik, the MS260 should take the picco rims, but not the 560xp.

What do you mean by "same size"? If they are made for the same pitch and gearing, the outside diameter will of course be the same, regardless what hub size (mini, small, standard) they are for.

You don't really have to check, what you posted is true.:001_smile:

They are both small 7-spline, you know, a .325 7t rim that comes fitted as standard

The Stihl mini type has been a pain in the ass to find bits for- I presume this is the type found on an MS250 with a rim sprocket carrier? 19mm o/d of the carrier including the splines.

Next size up appears to be Oregon specific. I have an Oregon type drum for an 034 and the spine size is inbetween the small Stihl on the MS250 and the normal sprockets as used on bigger saws. I will try that part number, thanks,

@Rob D- you could do with changing your side around a bit. While the 'bar finder' is great for a newbie running stock, it just means I can never find what I'm looking for. I don't run anything too custom, just things like 13" .325/9T on an 036 and 1.1mm 12" 3/8P on an MS250, 8t. I'm sure many do similar and your site is impossible to find things like the 8t Stihl mini sprocket on.
