righto chapps whats your opinions on mini skid steers for domestic tree work worth the hassle or more crap to carry to a job

Depends on the job.

 

Not worth it on small jobs, but for any decent sized takedowns I'm sure the lads who have them would never go back.

we've been looking at them as a way of saving our backs as we are getting even more larger jobs and they seem to be getting more and more awkward which attachments would you suggest i was thinking about a log grab and a muck grape type for brash

id rather not do medium - large removals anymore than do them without my boxer

pallet forks and some sort of bucket grab will do most of what you need

I've only used mini loaders, ferrari, avant and giant, artic steer not skid.

They're a fantastic tool on the right job! Normally use the mick grab (below) as you can't grab brash with just the pallet forks, and logs ect dont fall off, if you're carefull on flat ground you can take up with it too

We've got one of the biggest bobcats and it's a powerful machine. We had a mature alder fall across the road the other day. Bobby dragged it off like a twig. BUT. I would go for a tracked one in future. Wheeled skid steers are hopeless on wet ground. I've been watching the polish boys putting in a solar park near me and they use tracked bobbies and they go anywhere.
