i have carbon spikes and they have lasted well for me.. ands still going well, i have no complaints about them what so ever, i am very careful though when i use them, put them on under the tree and take them off after i have finished with them under the tree, which means i never really walk around in them on the ground. there are people on here that have had sets last years and years,

I had my first pair of carbons for 6 years. They got to the stage where all the velcro needed replacing which would have been approximately £50 if I remember. As the spikes had earned me well for 6 years I decided to just buy a brand new pair...but in reality the carbon portion of the first pair were absolutely fine.

I'm still wearing these after replacing the Velcro after some one ran over my first pair and Steve kindly donated me them, so that must be 8-9 years of service and they still have a good few years left .. And I'm not really bothered about what surface they are walked on but then again who would walk around in any spikes if your not in a tree... I'm inclined to think the wear on aluminium spikes would be the same if not worse as its softer than carbon.

I have carbons and a pal has the ali ones. Not much difference in weight and both as comfortable as each other. Id go for the ali as cheaper and more hard wearing.

:dito: what he said ;)

Also, the aluminium Gecko's are adjustable length, whereas the carbon ones are not.
