Sounds silly but a friend of mine who's in the industry doesn't bother with a waterproof jacket. Instead he only wears a t-shirt and just changes it twice a day. He says that your skin is waterproof, which is true! I may try it one day, see if it's a good idea or not :)

This is all well and good in summer rain but icy rain is no fun, particularly if its not a particularly hard paced job.

 

I'm same as you Mark, once your in a cacoon in your waterproofs the rain isn't too bad, but I hate gear getting wet and muddy

"Scruffs" jacket and tousers for on the ground can get them in wickes.. No problems until I caught the jacket today on the chippers jockey wheel and ripped it slightly!

gee thx fellas some good suggestions like the camo umbrella...lol and the diving helmet was thinking bout scuba diving gloves gotta be better than those expensive arbortec gloves u know the ones there crap...lol

I generally just wear a fleece or 2, and a good hat, and gloves if the job allows. Iv also got a £20 bright orange cycling waterproof that I wear sometimes.

I prefer being damp but warm to having the cold wet lines you get from waterproof s.
