CSCS card....?

Hiya,

 

Work is non exixtant at the mo so Im thinking of doing some building site labouring. To do this I need a CSCS card, but I have no qualifications in building (hence looking at being a lobourer). On the CSCS website you seem to have to have a qualification to apply for the card, is this the case or am I missing something?!

Isn't there a trainee card (I think), or an affiliated occupation one?

 

I don't have it personally - just looked into it a few years ago

I did some labouring about three years ago and got a green site operative card. It was just a 40 question multiple choice test all common sense, mostly health and saftey basics, although I did get the book for about a fiver. I cant imagine its changed much for a labourer.

You have to do the basic health and safety test then once you have that completed you apply for the card. For tree work/landscaping you have to go through BALI for the card. Same form, different logo.

chainsaw ticket will get you a Construction Related Occupation (CRO) card most site tend to be happy if you have A card regardless of type

We got the basic. H&S green cards direct from the testing centre. Brush up on fire extinguishers ie what colour labels contain what cos you will fail if you get two or more wrong. You can get other questions wrong but not fire stuff or so I was told.

You just need to to the Site safety test. You can buy the course on the tinternet, book a test on a on the same page..... multiple choices, realy easy-peasy!

Cscs is just the health and safety part needed to work on site really easy would read up as there is questions about fire extinguishers which could stump you
