Wish i'd read your reply sooner chopper, anyway i went for the workware heavy duty in 12ft. Just got home to find it in the hall wrapped in bubble wrap, looking like something from the lunar landings.

Been thinking, i do have some one who works partime for me on an as & when required basis, & he is a little fat f***** so maybe getting the heavy duty one was a wise move, but if i need another size, & sods law says i will at least i know i can get away with the standard ones.

Hi, good choice you'll soon find hedges a breeze. Just one point when transporting your ladders, take the adjustable leg out and carry it in your vehicle. I transported mine in the trailer only to find the leg unhitched and the short adjustable part fell off. Otherwise absolutely brilliant piece of kit.

Thanks for the tip !.

Used it today, very impressed with the reach it gives me & the fact you can get right in close to the work.

A lot of money, but it does seem to be a big help, thanks for the advice.

Hi guys this is a good topic. I will give my opinion on what I have personally used, and can vouch for. I have just bought my 2nd set of steps, they are the 16 ft henchman tripod ladders the pro ones, all three legs adjust( I would recommend you by all three leg adjustments) you will kick yourself if not. They are brilliant. A lot of money but they are well worth it. Makes work a lot easer. This is my 2nd lot of steps the last ones are about 4 years old. They have improved them so much. Extra support, a better platform at the top. I transport mine on a 10ft by 5 ifor Williams. They do over hang the sides a bit. Just be careful not to bend the metal because they are not the strongest. I normally rest the bottom of the ladder on a load of builders bags. they make jobs a pleasure to do. You will not go wrong with these.

I'm seriously thinking in investing in a set of tripod ladders, all 3 legs adjustable.

A question though: how do you get on cutting an 8' hedge off 10' ladders? Do you have any problems reaching round the ladder? Do you turn it round and stand with your back to the ladder? Do you turn it sideways?

Thanks,

Jon
