Thank you very much for that offer mate, but don't want to put you to any trouble, the advice is good enough. :thumbup1:

I have found some on e bay -

Carburettor Mounting Gasket Set, Honda Izy, HRX426/476/536, GCV135/160 Engines | eBay

Well, there you go!

By the way, the GC engines tend to eat spark plugs too, so get one with the gaskets. And an air filter.

Can anybody tell me a basic spec for a sit on 12v battery that'll electric start a briggs 11hp on an mtd. Is there a formula/ratio/connection between Ah's and engine size/hp for the future? Cheers.

It really depends on the size of the battery tray.

Hi Barrie - cheers

i can modify the tray to suit - its just that 24Ah upwards which are advertised as sit on batteries all seem around 35-40 quid mark.

toolstation do a 12Ah 12 volt for 28 quid - i'm not sure how you measure cranking power in a battery and whether there would be enough oomph in such a battery

I would certainly not fit a 12ah battery Mike. False economy, even it if does the job, which I doubt, it will not last.

My parents' MTD 165/E has a 20Ah battery (NUMAX Y50N18LA2). That's with a Briggs & Stratton 16.5hp 694cc twin cylinder engine.
