Just got the 372XP X-torq back together again with a new piston.

I am getting backfiring on starting, not had one to do before so is this a normal occurence or is the flywheel key shot - not pulled the flywheel yet to check.

I am not using the decomp to start it!

The coil gap is fine

Turn the piston the right way round! ;)

Thanks Wes, nice one - think the flywheel has shifted - will have to pull it and find out:thumbdown:

Sorry, mate. The only thing I have heard, but can't comfirm, is the timing is advanced a bit more so than the old 372xp. So if the key is off, I suppose it could be more bitey. Did ya remove the gasket? What sort of squish do they have? The old 372/365 chassis were not known for their compression.

It is a straight repair - seized! The key is fine, have re-adjusted the coil but reckon Husqvarna have put some serious retardation on the ignition to aid starting to the point the thing fires on the downward stroke hence the backfire - perhaps it is me pulling it over a bit faster than smaller fellas:lol:

There are threads on some other forums that show the restrictors on the transfer covers of the 365xt. Once these are ground off, the saw is basically a 372xt since the p/c is the same in both saws. I have a 365xt that has had the the restrictors ground off, the muffler modified, and some port work done to it, and it is a very strong runner.

Tried the one I had the backfiring on today and it revs out, idles and cuts fine - I am just putting it down to the ignition unit retarding the spark, all seems 100% now on this one.

On the 365/372 x torq, looks like Husky got lazy and put two saws out with very little difference bar the power output easily obtainable by modifying the transfer blockage they put in to stifle the output:001_rolleyes:

Looks like a simple mod!

If this is a non X Torq 365, just fit the 75cc clinder from the Husqvarna 375K instant power increase.

Wow! Forgot all about starting this thread!:001_huh:

Not sure about the 375 myself, but you are correct, on the old 365 you could fit the bigger pot(I know it as the 372) but even then, I think it needed to be on the 365 "special", not its earlier version.

As for mine, and thanks for bumping the thread, its on the bench now in bits. I tore it down last week with the intension on cutting out the baffles, but not got them done yet.

I'll sure crack on with it shortly, and hopefully if I remember, get some pics and stick them on here.
