Evening all.I went to quote to reduce a conifer hedge today and found this in the customers garden. Anyone been this close before?

Usually when gralloching them .

I got one with a 254 and a 1st thin corsican pine in the rack more than a few years ago in Thetford. Must have been the first tree of the morning. Only found out when we pulled the trees out with the hydro tongs.

Try a roe call in the rut and fix bayonets :thumbup1:

I had one that close last year walking the dog at dusk in the woods. I kept as still as I could and the deer and dog ended up nose to nose, sussing each other out. The dog got scared, she was only a couple of months old and ran away. The deer just carried on it's business and wandered off after 5 minutes or so.

On a couple of occasions, both while out shooting.

Was out setting the decoys whilst Corvid shooting, a young Buck jumped into the field, and walked by me, no more that 10 ft away, looked at me ( I was not moving a muscle) walked past, got to the hedge, turned around and walked back.

All the while he was looking at me, stopped again, then turned and walked to the hedge, looked at me again, and hopped over the hedge.

Similar while shooting Squirrels in a release pen with the air rifle.

Buck and Doe stroll up to the feeder where the squirrels were feeding, Doe the wanders down the path towards where I'm sat with my back against the tree.

Stopped about 6 ft in front of me just looking at me, decided I was of no interest, and wandered back to the Buck.

Both times it really made my day :thumbup1:

Never been that close to a deer, well an alive one anyway  But while out shooting late /dusk I was sitting in a hedge bottom waiting for some rabbits to put an appearance in when I saw a fox ambling towards me.

I kept as still as I could and eventually the fox walked up to me, by this time there were some rabbits opposite me in the field and it had not escaped raynard's attention so he was not paying that much attention to the hedge and he actually stopped about a foot away from me still looking into the field ( no I didn't shoot him) but he jumped up about 4 foot when I tapped him on the arse :lol:
