660 or 880?

Depending how much milling you do. A good sharp ripping chain on 36" is not a big issue to that saw. It will work hard but not kill it unless you were milling 3 or 4 days a week! Lol!

 

It sounds to me a 880 would not be that suitable for you as a ground saw anyway if you don't do many big trees.

I have used a 660 with a 36" bar, it pulls it with ease, it just makes the saw a bit nose-heavy (which is to be expected), but once in the wood it's not a problem

Do you think a 660 will be alright on a 3 foot bar for milling then?

The saw will only really be used for ground work as i don't do many big trees.

So do you think weight will still be a big issue?

I have a 660 an the Lad I work with has an 880. 36" stays on the 880 all the time and my 660 has a 25 and a 36"

The 660 isn't much slower than the 880 on the 36 but it's so much lighter for using for longer periods of time. Having the 25 is also handy and it does rip through almost anything with ease with that bar on.

 

So it's 660 for me over the 880. Obviously the price difference too.

not a fan off the 660 at all 880's ok but is a big heavy beast of a thing not something you want to be swinging very often

Iv got an880 only use it when absolutly ness . Wish i had got the 660 with a 25 and 36 bar, would get a lot more use.
