Ok i am new to this milling business, I have just milled up a bit of oak its 6-7ft long and about 2ft wide i have 9 2" planks and 1 1"plank. Some one i know wants it but i have no idea how much to charge him ???

Measure the width at the narrowest point and do width x thickness (in inches), divide by 144 to get feet and multiply by length in feet to get cubic feet.

 

I would sell green oak at £20-£25/cu.ft depending on quality of board (and quality of milling).

Steve, you are looking from it as a customer's point of view, ie want to pay as little as possible. On the other hand as someone who mils up timber, I wouldn't want to sell it as low as that. £16 - 24 is a good range as Big J stated.

yes i am looking at it from a customers point of view but oak is one of the most numerous trees on this bloody island, why isn't it cheaper?

 

in my opinion it should be around the same price as beech which is £15-£20.

steve! Matty has probably chainsaw milled this tree, which is hard work, and worth every penny of between £20 and £30 cubic ft, I dont let mine go for any less, rather use it myself!
