What do you mean the chain maybe messaged :confused1:

Massaged he says. It's probably been given a rub down to get it in the mood  Lowered rakers would be my guess if the chip is coming off heavy.

Modified to cut faster. Usually removing the heel of the tooth to reduce friction, enlarging the gullet to promote better chip discharge, etc etc.

Here is the difference a chain and bar make:

And why not another Hemlock while we're at it:

:confused1: Al just stick to standard chains :thumbup1:

So if he was using that same 250 on any harder woods it would be crap?

It would be a hell of a lot slower, and the oiler would have difficulty keeping the heat down on the bar. Piltz are all marketing and little substance.

On a 40-50cc saw, you could try and run pixel/NK/Narrow kerf chain in 325. It is nearly the same kerf as lo pro, but uses much large 325 teeth.

That's what I used on my 026 and 346.... When you look at chains and sprokets you get 1/4 3/8 .325 :confused1: all the saws I've had have used 325 I think :confused1:

When you say "removing the heel of the tooth" what do you mean? I always take my rakers down more than is advised and enlarge the gut of the tooth but that's a new one to me. Cheers

I would list it slightly differently . 1/4, 3/8 lowpro , .325 , 3/8 , .404 .
