Yes, very port-able, they can be made to outcut a 560xp

Here is mine - it has a pop up as well as being ported but they port very well IMO!

Oh, I thought it should be viewable. It's just a bit quicker the the standard......Standard was cutting in around 4.25 seconds. Ported with the special bar and chain is around 2.65 seconds. Happy days!

I have a seized 357 XP which I would like rebuilt and ported sometime in the near future. What would be the biggest bar I could run on it? Would it handle a 24" ok?

You can try it but most would put a 15" on it and let it scream through the wood:thumbup: 357s like revs and the 24" won't let it be where it is best - flatout!

I would use a 15" on it as well but I'm frequently finding I need more bar than I have on my other standard 357 XP so I was looking for an alternative to buying a larger saw.

Burrell usually finds zipping down both sides with a 15" is more enjoyable than using his 660 with a 2' bar:thumbup:

 

18" is very dooable, 20" at a push, 24" is a bit 372XP territory IMO!

That's what I was afraid of. Oh well, looks like an addition to my collection beckons as well as porting the seized one.

Porting is definitely worth it! Though to run a bigger bar, I've found you usually need a bigger carb

I run a 18" on my 357 just because I had a spare 18" bar and chain at the time rather than buy a new 15" It is ported and muffler modded but it pulls it no problem to the point I never worried about getting a 15.

Like spud says I think 20" would be the max you would be "happy" with on a ported 357.
