Truck Suggestions Please

Hi Guys i am new to this site so would first like to say hi to everyone.

 

I am moving back home to the UK from a 2 year stint in Ireland and i am going to try and set up small scale on my own, i have been doing some budgeting and trying to prepare a business plan and for a truck i am looking at about £3500 to £4000 for a truck. Does anyone have any advice on makes models etc, i will be looking to tow a small 6 inch chipper ( either a jenson or timberwolf ) so a tipper is going to be essential. I have been looking at transits and ldv's but would love to get a wider opinion on this as i know its going to be tough.

Transit tipper simple and straight forward.

Forget ldv they were crap new.

 

All 3.5t trucks are much of a muchness get the newest low milage best looked after one you can find.

I agree about the LDV's

You can get a clean low mileage LDV with transit running gear for half the price of a transit just got one myself and its fine.

I personally would have a good look at which main dealers there are locally. If there is a good Ford dealer nearby go with that or whichever. When you need parts quickly you need them, there is nothing worse than needing a mirror or mechanical part and waiting days for it to turn up in the post. I think most manufacturers stopped making bad trucks years ago.

Nissan cabstar, they are tough as old boots!

if you go off road, 4x4 pick up with tipper is great.

budget might be tight though.

I swear by my hilux tipper, old but handy.

the 4x4 option means we can get as close to the tree as possible, get where some people cant and can get rid of woodchip in a muddy field or on a farm etc.

cant stand newer (year2000+) transits wouldn't have one as a gift! id go cabstar if all your work is going to be on tarmac/concrete or movano with mud/snow tyres if you do a small bit off road
