Obviously it wont be as lively as on a 24 but mine lives on a 36" .404 and pulls it well . Any porting work is of benefit whatever the bar length .

Used a 36" bar on my 395 for the past couple of years, dropped some big 4ft + trees with it without a hitch.. Have just gone up to a 44", the chain was expensive plus a ripping chain. Hope this answers your query, Nick Pearson, Timberline-Roe Ltd.
