Blakes hitch with a micro pulley.

tried it and now use it. i use both ends of my rope each with a micro pulley on and a blakes. works a treat.

Sounds like a decent setup, always loved the blakes, loved that it just felt bombproof reliable. Would try it but i've fallen in love with my lockjack!

You can self-tend with a Blakes but you need another small prussik hitched onto the attachment end of your rope, ie, spliced eye, then attach that to the micro pulley.

You can then pull up the rope hand over hand.

 

 

 

you'd need to undo it when you come to change over though wouldnt you?

ive been rec climbing and been using a double blakes, or blakes to prussik. leaving a longer tail on you blakes then means you can tie another across to your attachment end, as you pull down, it works like a pulley, and advances you, can get great distance on each pull. this can get long tho if your changing over lots, so been tieing figure eight in the tail, using a prussik on me attachment line, then just a small crab to link, that way its nice and quick for change overs or untying. anyone else seen this?

i use a micro on the blake i like it, good for slack tending and footlocking the tail,although i am trying a vt at the moment but the jury is still out on that.

blake hitch very rarely jams? they tighten up all the time.
