Paleo diet for arborists

I read the overview online, and whilst it's good to see the 'fat is bad' dogma being challenged, the guy on the fat diet cut out all carbohydrates, and then complained he had no energy.

Well duh. Firstly, you're supposed to keep it under about 30g of carbs for keto, not zero. He can't have been eating ANY veg either to avoid carbs. Which is just dumb.

Secondly, a month is about as long as it takes to adapt to keto. Lethargy in the first month is common- it's termed 'keto flue'. Had he persevered (and eaten veg) then he would probably have felt much better.

I was too busy to watch, but did they address any of the above points?

What weight are you hoping to drop to?????

As I understand it "keto" is your body eating its self, which is great if you are wanting to lose weight, but not something for those who have no desire for weight lose, but just wish to feel and be healthier.

you wont be on a fat diet after watching the show on iplayer, sorry to spoil it for you.

Wouldn't sway me either way to be honest. Scientists change their minds every week about this sort of stuff.

I'm on the paleo diet not because of any science but the plain logic behind it...it just makes sense in my little mind, and i've never felt better

Exercise combined with a balanced diet with whole grains, fresh fruit, vegetables with sensible amounts of meat and fish are whats needed, Mediterranean African and Asian people ate this diet and never had a problem with weight and fatigue, its only recently people have become fat and fatigued this is due primarily to our sedentary lifestyle and mass produced sugar and fat rich diet, well thats my opinion.

Not at all. Keto is the process of burning fat for fuel. It's converted into ketones which your body can use for fuel rather than carbs- interesting sidenote, cancer cells cannot use ketones, only glucose, and there have been interesting studies into a keto diet to fight cancer.

If your body is 'eating itself' (ie. muscle) then you are not eating enough regardless of whether you are keto or not.

Once in keto, your body will seamlessly switch to burning body fat if you eat a slight calorific deficit. You feel full all the time, your blood sugar levels are stable, it's awesome.

I dropped from 20+% body fat and 13st 6lb to my current 10% body fat and 11st 2lb in six months with f all exercise or effort  I'm six feet tall. My avatar is a bit small, but that's my former chubby self!

This is a good keto resource.:

Eskimos lived on nothing but protein, I used to wonder why they never got scurvy, turns out they would of if they hadn't eaten whale blubber which is rich in vitamin c and other micro nutrients, sadly these days it also contains mercury and other poisons

Eat and drink what you feel content with, listen to scientists and you'll be going round in circles, each to their own, wish I could be as disciplined.

Actually, blubber (fat) was the main source of their calories. In fact, they knew that if they had only lean mean available it was better to go hungry, for eating just lean meat would give them the runs.

Keto is high fat, MODERATE protein and low carbs.
