Grease point hose.

Hello,

On our Quadchip, there is a multiple grease point and one of the hoses has split.

I think it goes to one of the main rotor bearings.

Is it a ball ache to replace OR is it within the realm of the amateur mechanic...?

I need to get it sorted sooner rather than later.

Should be easy. Undo at either end.

Its usually just a plastic pipe with brass olives, cut to length and install. Get the old one off for sizing because the metric and imperial can look close enough but arent when you try to screw it together

Do you know if the hose is a bog standard part or special order stuff?

A "special" part means nothing nowadays. There is always another company that will make the same sizes and joins. Just a case of matching them up.

 

So long as the pipe is of the same size inside and out and of a same pressure rating (yes I know it sounds silly as it's for grease, but there can be some pressure in the pipe when pumping in)

 

You should be able to get the right pipe and fittings from any agri dealer or a motor factors. They should be able to match it up for you.

 

I would try agri dealers first. You will more than likely have more success.

Right,

Local dealer where we bought the Quadchip from was in true French fashion

USELESS.

Never seen this type of hose before and was not interested either in helping us.

To remove the hose entirely would mean taking off a pulley and that is not something I am willing to entertain.

I am wondering if another option is to remove to external grease nipple and simply reconnect it on the interior of the chipper body as a stop gap.

Does this sound a plan?

G.M are closed today or I'd have an answer from Mac.
