How tree branches are attached to trunks

Has anyone a copy of this article, published in the Canadian Journal of Biology, Volume 63, No.8, 1985 by A. Shigo

I can find it online, but it's $50.00 and I've hammered my research/book fund a bit too much recently:blushing:

I don't mind contributing if someone has purchased it themselves, or donating to the charity etc.

Thanks, I've got these diagrams, its the original 1985 article I'm after. I'm trying to find out what Duncan Slater was alluding to in his article.

Shigo's paper describes an experiment in which the debarking of branch

junctions is carried out in June and then August of a particular year, on

which he bases his conclusions about the alternate overlapping of branch

and trunk tissues. However, this experiment does not give conclusive proof

that the trunk collar tissues envelope the branch collar tissues during one

growing season, followed by the overlaying of another branch collar at the

start of the next season. As Shigo's experiment was destructive, it only

illustrates that different branch junctions at different times of the year

showed different levels of occlusion in the adjoining trunk. Shigo's paper

significantly misrepresents what this test actually shows.
