Make sure it has good compression, generally looks tidy, (not tarted up), should fire from cold in a couple of pulls, & run from cold ticking over, no rattles.

They are a strong saw, even better with a dual port (magnum) muffler, some have a nasty kick on the starter (older machines)

good reliable saw, check the anti vibes as the saw isnt the most friendly on the hands, check the tank for holes and dents and generaly look over make sure you use it cutting something

 

HI STEVE im told the 460 was a good saw but I've not ran one. im put off by the high vibs that why i got a 461 thanks jon
