Same here. Has this thread bashing the ms261/anything stihl not been done 100 times by now? They're just saws! They cut wood, you get paid and go home! Mine and others work perfectly.

If opinions are asked for, then opinions will likely be given.

Which opinions were not based on experience?

Its just that this same thread has been done soooo many times now. I'm sure both husky and stihl stuff break and seems to mainly end in stihl bashing? None of my saws have needed anything but general maintenance. Perhaps they won't last 15 years like ones made in the 90's but they are lighter and cut faster and if using professionally what they cost to buy is recouped very quickly

that's not the ms261 that I have got then:lol::lol::lol:

Maybe not, but it still is a 50cc engine in a saw body that more resembles a (properly made) 60cc one. The MS261 is a totally uninteresting model - it is as simple as that! :001_rolleyes:

A 560xp handles much better, with the outbouard clutch and much better design - despite it is halv a pound heavier, and does of course have a lot more power.

The 550xp is quite a bit lighter than the 261, and totally outclasses it in handling, as do the older 346xp.

I've got a 261 had problems with it got them fixed but I went and bought 560xpg ( yes not a 550) and since buying it the 261 has just sat feeling lonely in the garage. I'm now thinking about selling it to fund a 550 for lighter work
