Have a 550 and have nothing but good to say about it. Don't use it as much as some folks on here or as much as I'd like but it's a bastardo to go :D

Think mins a 2012 and runs a 15" full chisel chain. Spot on :thumbup1: used and abused every job! Not once greased the bearing or done any maintenance to it! :thumbup:

The 261 is better with more torque to get through wood that's abit twisty.

The 550 is fast but only for thinner non knotty wood.

 

Anything to back that up or just a personal opinion?

MS 261 2.9kW

Hus 550 2.8kW

 

But it's not just the max. power. but how the engine works within that power, i.e. torque, throttle response, etc.
