And the link you put up, 36,000euro - £30,000 + vat + import duty + RHI compliant boiler + RHI compliant metre + RHI accreditation ?!?

Sounds really cheap

So you ignore the 18500 euro price for the standard container system and quote the top of the range 36000 euro price for the all singing all dancing lumber kiln capable of drying planking timber without splitting. Even that is a lot less than the 65k + vat quoted earlier.

Thats perfectly fine but i havnt got the money to buy it or wouldn't be able to get finance on it either being a relatively new company. So if i cant get it in the first place i cant get the RHI payments on it. 5 years down the line things might have been different but for me now this would be perfect.

I would make full use of the fact i will be able to turn wood around in less than a week and in that case not run out in November so have so much more capacity to cut, dry and sell throughout the winter. Therefore making more money.

Go and buy one then, let us know how you get on. I will be generally interested!

If your in the position to buy one the logpro obviously isn't for you.

He's not holding a gun to your head to sign the lease ;)

Thanks Ash (again) for your support but I hope you dont mind me pointing out that you missed off some costs.

He would need to add shipping, UK forwarding and delivery, UPS power back up, upgraded heat exchangers, bespoke parts and labour to fix the kiln over the next five years, cost of designing and sourcing the connection from bio mass boiler to kiln.......

and then there is the risk of dealing with an overseas company via LC

sounds tempting doesn't it ........

As already outlined I am well underway with a solar variation which looks like it will cost less than the 10k budget I allowed and is projected to receive approx 4k RHI per annum. If we require higher throughput then we will increase the number of solar panels which would also increase the RHI payment.

End of the day someone could buy a second hand container, new or used biomass boiler circulator/extractor fans and build a kiln of there own. on the cheap

But it wouldn't be tried and tested and I bet it wouldn't have the cycle time of the logpro. No back up and no guarantees.

You could make the same argument about anything, Forwarding trailer, log splitter, sawbench etc.

I don't see people moaning about JasPWlison making Botex trailers and making money out of contractors or firewood producers

If it works then you never know other members may be interested in buying systems off you. It is a different proposition to LogPro in that it requires a cash outlay, gives much lower throughput, seasonal use, lower RHI income BUT works from free fuel. This will no doubt be a better solution for some members. John I genuinely wish you every success with it be sure to keep us posted on your progress.

I'm with you on this if you can't afford it or don't want to this is an option (although I don't agree with some of Logpros numbers). But I also see the benefit for people that want to put £20000+ in their own pocket and use extra heat for houses offices etc. If you think it is a crap idea then it is probably because it doesn't work with your current business setup.
