What are the load capacity's of the various makes of second hand pickups? At the moment do all our log deliveries with a Defender and trailer but would be so much easier with a pickup. No need for a tipper as happy with a Loadhandler and would like a 800kg payload. Any advise welcome

So with some greedy boards most pickups could legally handle 2m3 of dry loose logs?

Talked to a local tree surgeon yesterday who said they where very easy to end up overloaded but 1000kg sounds more than enough for my use.

Yes, 2 cube should scrape under OK. I had a pallet load of coal in my landy the other day, it weighed just over a ton and the bump stops were about a cm off the axles! It was on the border of being legal so on that note it would take quiet a bit to overload a smallbed pickup. It usually looks well overloaded before it actually is.

I had a look recently and the hilux single cab still only carries 750kg with a tin buck. The extra and double cab carries nearly 1100kg. Its always been the same if you fit a proper tipper you will reduce this by another 350kg so best to go for and extra cab and go up a bit. Remember also any passengers need to come out the payload.
