Chipper blade damage Hall of Fame (or shame!)

a few bits of gravel,did they mistake it for the concrete mixer !! ive never seen a blade as bad as that,i had a blade break and collide with the other one and never caused that kind of damage, who made the blades? the manufacturer of plasticine......

Was told a couple of bits of gravel had gone through my 150 Timberwolf on Friday.

Went to change the blades today and found this: :eek:

The operator has been spoken to and new set of blades will be charged to them - £60 + vat for genuine TW blades, which these were.

 

Already checked the fins on the back, and one has a bit of damage but nothing missing so hopefully the balance will be Ok. Will see tomorrow if there is any vibration.

Bloody hell! Those are shocking!

 

My worst blades were when someone didn't bolt the anvil on properly...the anvil came loose and was fired through the hydraulic tank; almost out the other side.

Thats not hard to do, I have seen the same thing happen when the lads were feeding conifer through the chipper. There was a lump of reo bar included in one of the sticks, you would never have seen it. Sometimes its just bad luck, but either way its a brown trouser moment if you happen to be along side the machine.

Same here, thin bar used by clients to support hedging.

I picked it all out I thought but I didn't see the stuff laid down behind the hedge.

I heard it go through from the other side of the garden.

Looked just like thin laurel too.

Looking at the blades I would suggest the horizontal and vertical anvils may also be damaged, in addition the rotor should be removed and all parts checked and damaged parts replaced.

Using the machine without performing these checks could endanger the operator safety.
