Got a roof problem help/advice please

The idea with the plastic & a bungee is a good one, but the plastic may deteriorate & you say the hole is square?

 

If an old rubber inner tube would be large enough cut it so it bridges the gap, if that dosnt fit then make a collar to cover the corners, with sheet metal then fit your shroud to that.

meant to say - yea, the plastic will degrade whereas the pond liner will last a long time

NICE ADVICE LADS THANKS SORRY I,VE NOT HAD CHANCE TO REPLY TODAY me and my cousins going to go down to my plot and try the roofing felt idea if not may go with the guttering set up but a bit worried about leaf litter build up blocking up having to unblock etc as its all under 2 silvebirch and a oak

Pond liner is the way to go. Made for the job. If you use felt make sure it is felt and not roofing membrane as it's not uv stable. Make sure you give the tree plenty of space in the roof and don't pull the felt/rubber tight.

use some rubber belting might be more flexible

 

+1 was going to say get some good rubber and fit to tree and down over roof sealing with duck tape or roofing tape. just had my outhouse sealed with roofing tape now bone dry

If u go down the guttering route try this and wire them down bud

just so there is no confusion, I think Predator was referring to roofing felt which would be a waste of time as it wont cope with compound bends and will harden, crack and leak - needs to be the pond liner type stuff, usually EPDM or butyl. EPDM is also extensively used as single ply roofing membrane, but is an identical product to the EPDM pond liner, except that as a roofing product the manufacturers like to charge a significantly higher price than they can for pond liner

Just looked up the pond liner epdm looks like the right stuff to go for top guys thanks for your input another thing i,ve learned today thankyou so much very greatful

Is the rain running down the trunk or comming off the roof sheet I assume it has coregations . If its the roof sheet cover it with flat sheet all the way from the top when you get to the tree bend the sheet so the rain runs off either side of the tree on to another sheet and away.
