i think you are confusing the d40 with the old D22 yd25 engine. yes these had a problem that around 7ok the engine blew big time. new engine. these where made in spain. they used aliminium shims on conrod normal bolts not special bolts and the o ring that supplied oil to the pots degraded starving no 4 piston of oil. this in turn made it run hot and it then jammed in block conrod snapping and coming threw the side of engine nissan did offer a replacement if under 5 years or 70k mine was 5 years 3 months and 68k cost me well dealer who sold it 2.5k for new engine. but not heard of this on the D40 as nissan changed having the engines made in spain

only thing i heard on the d40 and that was the early models pre 60 that the flywheel had problems.

if you want to put your mind at rest go on the navara owners forum see whats being said about the d40. but reading on the other posts sound like a good truck that goes on.

It was the older shape D22's which threw a rod at around 60,000.

Mine had 168,000 on it when i sold it last year... Only had a clutch and prop shaft uj in that time.

Currently looking for 2 if anyone is selling... A double cab aventura for the mrs, and a king cab for me.

Yes mine was a d22 I think the only thing that did not blow up was the engine. All trucks seem to have problems. A friends low mileage l200 put a conrod out the side of the engine which took the clutch and gearbox. I have heard of problems on mk6 hilux especially injectors. We have a td5 disco been great for 5 years broke down 4 times in the last two weeks all different un related faults. As been said its all down to luck and whether it was built on friday.

touch wood since having new engine which is better than the nissan own engine it has been a good truck touch wood good on fuel does what i want it to do. but looking at getting a van for most jobs as pickup has it downside that strimmers and any long handle have to go across as to short to go in lengthways. plus i can lock them away in back.
