Here is a video I initially produced on retention lines. It didnt all go as we intended but our plan, rigging, and equipment choices ensured a desirable outcome. I found a different lesson and focused the video on that.

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_LeNhlxteY]Tree Rigging: The Plan - TreeStuff.com Tech Tips - YouTube[/ame]

The tree barber chairs, it wasnt expected and could have been prevented had it been identified as a potential hazard. The point is that a good plan, rigging system and appropriate equipment choices created redundancy which ensured the result.

No person or method is perfect.

Tough one with that hinge on the side leaner:

Too thick and it can barber chair (evidently)

Too thin and the hinge could have sheared anyway.

The safe control of the rigging made sure it went where you wanted it. Impressive. Belt and braces.

At 4.39 there is a pic of the hinge, and the back cut seems to be below the gob, level it all up next time:thumbup: cheers for sharing rich

Rich it was a 'Murphy' step cut, although Nick explains that the cutter has been using this cut before Murphy was in nappies. Lol
