I still can't get the damn oil to travel along the bar!

I'm despairing. On the plus side, I'm saving oil.

Just try another bar from one you know oils . If it works you know its a faulty bar and you can take it back .....

Take it back? Is a two minute job with a drill worth going back and demanding a new bar???

Depends on how far I suppose ...

I'm well happy with the tech lite bar on mine ... Far more durable than any husky/Oregon bar I've had so far on my husky saws .

Remember the bars on the 335 ?? They used to glow red then sprockets explode after a few hours of use.

Could it be that the hole of your bar is obstructed by the middle of the bar?

On my 536 I drilled the middle of the bar out to let the oil pass freely to the drive link rail.

Maybe. I'll check.

An oil adjust just above the exhaust? I didn't know about this.

We've just got one back for the second time to trial and yet again it farts and splutters and bogs down after start up. Last time we took it back apparently someone had put the wrong fuel in it. We run 95 octane premium unleaded in all of our gear including our other Husky with no issues. Is the 540 different? Should we be running 91 Octane and if so, why would it make such a difference to the running. Sorry if it's a dumb question but we are at a loss as to why it won't run.
