Just wondered what people opinions are any whether they prefer working for the smaller outfits which maybe treat they're staff better, or the larger firms which have a lot of equipment, machinery etc but you are more a number than anything?

Curious really just after peoples thoughts as I'm in a bit Of a predicament In between Jobs

Are you after money or happiness?

I've worked in a 10 man gang and 2 man. Never been treated any differently in either. Only thing I've seen is less tree care, as most large firms do rail, roads or lines.

So answer to question is I'd prefer small firms

I worked for a huge firm and hated it.

Now I work for a small firm and love it.

If you're in a predicament between jobs, my advice is to take anything.

The small firm I work for now is my own so maybe thy doesn't count.

I've always worked for small domestic firms (max 5/6 people), but did a stint recently at a company that employs 100+ and couldn't find any positives.

I work for a large firm (well, large for tree work anyway), and I think it treats is staff far better than I have ever been treated in small firms (maybe I stand out less, haha).

I used to do freelance training for a large tree firm in Devon, and I don't think I ever heard their staff say a single negative thing about them either.

Some big firms are great. Maybe they just don't suit all people.

Thanks for the advice. I work for a big firm now, not huge but about 15 lads, good set up, job security etc but been offered a job with a small family run buisness, more money, less hours so it's a hard call!
