Looks like it's back to hand unloading.

Try to avoid that option; you end up in bed for weeks keep doing it; the aim is to eliminate hand contact with the wood at any time. Seriously tho, the body doesn't like twisting and bending 45,000 times a winter

I am working on it  The hiatus hernia has been a wake up call.

Only had to hand unload back into crate. I have Loadhandler on the trailer for deliveries.

Did you ever have any other thoughts on this Beau?

When I get a new cage in, I remove all but two of the hex bolts/coach screws before first use and attach a cover with ties. When seasoned wood is ready, I lift cage up onto trailer, remove the two screws, and then lift cage of pallet . Logs tumble out, job done. I retrieve the pallet base when I tip, then replace cage unit and screws and re-fill.

Don't even bother with this now Rowan.

It was a bit of a fiddle and now I use a truck instead of a trailer so don't fancy a slip and beating seven bells out of the truck. Quite like the fact all the logs are sorted and any remaining processor waste can be discarded. It's undoubtedly my weakest link in the chain but not come up with any sensible priced solutions. Started mesh bags for the short logs for next year but have already run into problems as our baby tractor can't lift them high enough to get them into the truck bed. Fortunate that we sell a lot of larger logs 12"-16" so handling is not that big an issue at that size.

No worries, just checking in this thread.

Sounds like you will have to build up some sort of berm to get that extra height issue sorted. Bit of a bugger though.

Yes a bit of a pain but not insurmountable if the will is there. Not sure it is though. I am not doing huge quantities like some of these fellows so not really a big deal to handball a few logs about.

Don't know whether I am missing something but cant you lift the bags from a pallet underneath the bag?

Yes I could but this may make unloading more tricky. Was going to try sliding the bag to the back of the truck and tip out. Don't think this would work with a pallet underneath.
