They should have just called it 1/4 would make more sense even if tech wrong

 

What would we call 1/4" chain then?

All these different pitches and gauges are an absolute nightmare! Add to that different manufactures using different names and numbers it just makes a big ball of confusion!

I don't know how joe public are meant to get there head round any of it! :confused1:

I worked with a guy that used 13/64 on both his 3/8 and 325 chain. Said the 325 lasted longer that way.

Uh!

 

On the table given be Eman, the file angle for 'H21' is 30°. But on the table given by you, the file angle on the same chain, is 25°. Which one is correct?

Ah, just looked at the info on Rob D's and H21 LB (semi/micro chisel) appears to be 30°. And a H21 LP (full chisel) appears to be 25°.

Came across this years ago with a 181 we now call them little 3/8 and big 3/8

 

 

 

It's the hardest thing with chain to get your head around - 3/8 lo pro and 3/8 standard chain.... the easiest way is as above - the 3/8 lo pro (or stihl picco) is a smaller chain than the 3/8 standard.
