Does a 16mm pulley only allow the use of a 16mm split tail/loopie etc?

 

Good question.

 

I would have thought whatever you can get in there is fine but I don't know.

 

Big chunky split tales hold a knot really well and don't seem to slip on the tree when snatching that's why I like them.

 

With our big split tale you have to hammer the eye flat to close the pulley back up.

a crushed splice or a reduce bending ratio would surley cut the strength of the split tail severley? yes?

 

Knots would exagerate this as they cut the breaking strain massivle (40%ish?)

do you not think that maybe thats not a suitable split tail

i am not sure what your doing but be carefull

I understand what you are saying, but it doesn't feel or look wrong to me. I think the bend ratio is fine in the pully/split tale combo and the rope is very soft so doesn't really get crushed to much. A lot of the problem with closing the swing cheek is caused by the protective sheath on the splice.

 

Cheers for the heads up Pete I will defiantly give it a bit more assessment when I put it together next.
