365 Replacement

this has got my ears pricked up i think ours is the 365 special can it be modded

 

Yes, I've had 2 of the older ones and was looking into swapping the bits to make it into a 372xp, someone did put a thread up but it may have been 3 years ago now. All seemed very straight forward to do but my 365 got stolen. So I never did it!

560 is THE best small saw ever made. Get one, it's lighter than a 365 (I've had 2) and it cuts much faster.

 

365 is a fantastic saw, I had my first one 11 years but the 560 out performs it massively. Just set it up right, as per the hand book and you'll be reet

 

I totally agree - the 560xp should fit perfectly.

 

Most "issues" were with the early saws, and many of them really proved to be operator errors (or even dealer errors) when it was looked into. Some early carbs were faulty though.

It is important to read what the manuals say about starting and run-in of those saws, as not everything is like it used to be....

Also buy it from a dealer that knows those saws, and have the test equipment for them.

Ok 365 x-torq. To turn it into a 372 xp all you need to do is remove the fin on the inside of the transfer covers with a dremel. You can either unbolt the barrel and lift it up enough to unscrew and take the covers off without actually removing the piston or you can just pull the barrel off totally. The transfer covers just basically screw to the side of the barrel.

Either that or just buy 2 372xp transfer port covers but have no idea of price prob about 20 quid each maybe. It's very simple to modify tho and doesn't take an hour with nothing more than a couple tools and a dremel.

The 365 and 372 x-torq models are totally the same apart from these covers. Ie same carb, same bore/piston etc etc

365 special is a different kettle of fh. You need to change the barrel and piston due to the fact its 65cc. Going this route get either a 372 top end or get a good quality big bore kit to take it up to the 75ish cc mark. They are totally interchangeable. The one thing I would say is try make sure your special has the later walbro carb which came as standard after about 2003 year.

my 560xp has been a nightmare 10 or 11 times its broke now . at the moment still at shop been in 3 weeks again , some thing broke on the carb only has half throtle now . when its back im selling it even the saw shop advised that . i will get another echo as they dont go wrong in my exp

 

You can't sell it now, mine would have been back through the dealer's window by trip number 4, why didn't your dealer just give you a new one?

they wont give me a new one and i dont want one yes its fast but i still say its not for pro use . new crank , exhaust , both side casings, 2 clutches , hot start mod , lost count of av springs, snapped the plastic tool in cylinder when trying to get the clutch off and now the carb . who wants that when the warranty runs out , the fuel and downtime costs are silly
