Well I don't understand how emissions have anything to do with killing the defender.

The basic design is old,not the engines.

They want something they can build with robots that costs nothing sells for 40k and appeals to the mass market on the school run the chinese and the indians and lets face it they own it dont they. They also make the TaTa pickup and you can drive that with the windows shut. RIP defender

I can concur with the heaters (although I prefer a TD5 myself).

As long as you accept that the heater has only an on/off switch. Any notion of control beyond this is sheer fantasy.

Er not quite true- there is a kind of half way house if you get the lever just in between clicks:biggrin:.

However if never had a problem with the doors falling off or water leaking- which some people like to suggest is standard on defenders.

IMO for my line of work their benefits outweigh their quirks 100x. But I wouldn't have one if most of my work involved long motorway journeys.

I will be sad to see the end of them. But mine will outlive me and I'm only 25:laugh1:

The whole inside will also have to be completely redesigned to comply with all the airbag legislation.

You dont need air bags in a defender with that nice soft dash although it could do with being moved about 6ft further forward. I think you could debate all night but you either love them or get a hilux I think its a marmite thing

I knew the defender lovers would come to slate the jap hilux, mitsi, nissan etc but its run its course and is world renowned but things move on and we can argue till the cows come home, Ive owned loads of pickups to say the least including a defender and my opinion is hilux is my prefered choice and its never got stuck ever and i drive to the woods all day its just down to tyres!!!!:001_smile:

Of course you don't need airbags, your jammed in so tight you wouldn't move anywhere in a accident anyway
