Hi

I am starting a landscaping and aggregate yard up in Bristol, I am looking to sell logs in bulk bags and loose to start looking at around 25 tons to start with but will be look for more once I am more established.

What sort of price would I be looking to achieve?

I look forward to some help/advice on the value of what I can buy for and what I can sale for and any other information would be greatly appreciated.

As with aggregates, you should be selling by volume, not weight.

0.5m3 bags priced at £70-80 should sell OK (down here at least), if you have a lorry and can pick 25 up from a local guy at £40-£50 that could work if it's enough margin for you?

What sort of margin do you hope to achieve on aggregates?

Would you be interested in a 25 ton load split hardwood delivered in bulker and tipped so you can bag them yourself.

Could bag them this end but would cost more obviously and not sure I'd get them all on a flat trailer.

Also can get load back from Bristol easily in bulker..

Would be regular supplier of same mix wood also..

hi all

thanks for getting back to me

I don't mind cutting and splitting the logs myself as my labour owes me a lot of money my yard is behind a garden centre so I have retail and trade customers

hoping to sell them around £65 a ton bag not a ton in weight i know

I don't no the difference in timbers i.e. burning qualities

Hello mate..

A full artic load timber split and delivered to your door would be £2550.

From that you will get roughly 50 cubic metres split wood. So most builders bags are 0.8 cubic metres. Which means there would be just over £1500 left for you.

Although you have to buy the bags which you should get back from customer.

I think £65 a bag is to cheap. That's a trade price that I would charge someone locally if they were selling on again..

Really wants to be at least £75 a bag... And that's ex your yard. More if your delivering.

Basically I'm charging you for 2 men for 3 days to process the load, very small amount on top for processor hire which is no where near what it would cost you to hire one for 3 days then haulage to your yard..

A load cord wood would cost you £1600 load delivered.

Question is is it worth the hassle to split said load for the extra £950

Takes 2 men 5-6 days to split same load using chain saw and log splitter and my guys been doing it for yrs

We supply lot garden centres other builders etc who can sell and deliver firewood easily just don't have time to split it.

My no is 07767480117 if you want to give me call.
