MG Rover Electrical Issue?

I lent my GreenMech tow tug to Al Thomson whilst his was repaired/replaced and I'm in a borrowed MG Rover 75 Estate.

It appears to have peculiar electrical issue in that when the indicators cancel/switch off, the headlights flash on, then drop down and rise up in two stages then they switch off! The dash lights also flash once as well!

This happens when the lights are on or off!

Any clue what is going off?

Sounds like a dickie indicator/flasher stalk.

I've just scrapped my 75 auto V6 (camshaft oil seal went at 98k and the cost of belts and gaskets was more than the car was worth though it was a lovely car) so I have the Haynes book if you are interested, you pay postage.

Thanks for the offer of the book, this is the oil burner, is that covered in the book too?

thanks for the supportive words Ian, it is a gentleman's express and not a coffin dodgers hearse!

IF ITS BURNING OIL TRY A SEMI SYNTHETIC OIL (( NOT FULLY )) ive not come across any rovers with oil troubles just head gaskets" > but the fords focus mondeo,s etc suffer oil burning i was told caused through bypass on the valve stem seals & rings very common on these cars. But was advised not to use fancy engine oils as they burn it for fun even though its not visable from the exhaust as it burns clean not blue smokey etc

worth a try as its a cheaper option etc my good friend peter got rid in the end as he did a lot of caravaning on the motorways and lost trust in his car etc >> he,s got a old isuzu trooper now 3.1 diesel good workhorse towing etc
