first of all.... hi bob fab to meet you both had a great chat with a like minded bod.

second... even my lad picked up on the questionaire bob a glaringly obvious mistake i think made by the new salesperson possibly.

thirdly...firewood should be sold by volume i.e per cubic metre and not per tonne as wood wants to be as dry n light as poss.

we get the age old problem of competing with the beer money builders tonne bag brigade... our answer we now also stock a half cube bag in which we shake the bags twice when filling with the forklift so the bags are full and so the bag measures dxwxh gives .5 cubic metre the wood sold in it is described as half a cube of loose logs measured in a container holding a half cube volume. the bags dont sag and hold an upright shape showing a full volume. now if a seller is filling a bag and dragging into van to deliver i would imagine as logs are not shaken there would be less amount of logs but it is still sold in the same container.....

my half cube of hardwood are 55 others round here are probably cheaper but in mine you get more logs

so swings n roundabouts i guess

if you had a bag for 35 you had 35 pounds worth imo

To anyone starting or thinking of going into selling logs please dont think all members of the public are like this. I would say this is one in a hundred and you soon get a feel for them when they ring up.

A wise note, sir! Reminds me of one customer who tried to haggle on the price I quoted him. He was most surprised when I went upwards with my next offer. He laughed and went lower still. I went another £5 higher and smiled. He got the message, and ended up paying £10 more than he would have needed to.

I did say that I believe I sell at a fair price and the only person who gets a discount is my mum.
